Where Travelers Choose to Stay in Cyprus: Paphos Leads, Ayia Napa Remains a Youth Hotspot

Tourism flows in Cyprus are not only steadily increasing but also evolving in terms of where travelers choose to stay. According to the latest data, the largest share of overnight stays is in Paphos, where more than 31% of tourists stay. This city is preferred by families, older travelers, and investors who are attracted by its ancient history, cultural landmarks, and a more relaxed lifestyle.

The second most popular destination is Ayia Napa, where about 15–16% of travelers stay. This resort is considered the capital of youth — it is famous for its beaches, party scene, and vibrant nightlife.

In third place by accommodation share is Larnaca (around 14% of overnight stays). It attracts visitors due to its convenient geographical location — it hosts the island’s main airport — as well as its family-friendly environment and well-developed urban infrastructure.

Interestingly, local real estate agencies also observe trends among Lithuanian tourists. Although official statistics do not list Lithuania separately, professionals working with investors report that many Lithuanians choose Paphos not only as a holiday destination but also as a place to purchase property. They are drawn by stable prices, safety, good accessibility, and a favorable year-round climate.

These insights show that Cyprus’s resorts not only attract different groups of tourists but also play a role in investment decisions. This highlights a broader context — tourism and the real estate market are closely intertwined on the island.
